BeaChY BoYs

Whilst my not having a job and filling out applications...

I turned on the TV, Full House was the show of choice.
Todays episode was the one with the Beach Boys!
You know, the one where DJ wins tickets on the radio to the Beach Boys concert and then has to choose one person to take with her to the concert, but of course they all end up going. oh i LOVE predictable, and cheesy happy endings :)
Anyway.
I made a decision: I LOVE the Beach Boys!!!
Maybe it's cause I am stuck in Utah where the sun only shows its shining face on the rarest of occasions, but the music and lyrics of the Beach Boys fill me with dreams of California: Salty air, the crashing waves, Disneyland... In other words,
 Pure Joy!
The bad news: I only have 5 Beach Boys songs on my Itunes...
SO youtube videos will have to suffice.

This is one of my favorite songs!

VeGGieS

 My Dad is Awesome :)
He is the best gardener I know and he has the best veggies too!!

When I was home in AZ, my dad brought 6, five gallon buckets home from his garden.
what was in them you ask? Onions. lots and lots of onions.
random fact: I dislike onions.
Do I know how to cook, clean, dehydrate, store and make salsa with onions?
 Yes, yes i do.

So when our ping pong table was practically covered with onions, I was so impressed!
but not so excited to find out what my dad was going to have me do with them.

I left back to Utah before I found out what adventures me and the onions had in store..

Whilst my cleaning other veggies such as squash carrots and beats, I found this interesting guy.

Carrots should not have faces.
or legs.
or arms.
but if it was to have arms, it should have 2.
None the less, this carrot had all of the above, minus an arm.

I find myself making jokes and complaining about cleaning and taking care of the vegetables more then I mean to. In all honestly, I Love them. I love that I have had the opportunities to help my dad plant and pull weeds in the garden and that he has instilled that love of healthy food in me. Especially since his opponent is my momma, Grandma Treats, who has taught me more about candy corn, rather then fresh corn. In my opinion, I think they make the perfect team :)
I love my Momma,
I Love my Dad.
and I love veggies.

the end :)

FisHy FunErAl..

There once lived a fish named Pheobe...

She was a rather friendly fish- dearly loved by everyone who knew her.
She and her partner, Pablo, were adopted into our Apartment #2 "Family"in the middle of April.
Rachel brought them home, and we all fell in love.

Phoebe passed away on Friday,  May 13th, 2011
As unlucky as Friday the 13th can be, we NEVER expected such a tragedy..
Rachel is doing okay, but Pablo has been acting kind of depressed recently..

In honor of her memory, we decided to have a funeral for Pheobe.
On May 15th, 2011, the services were held.

It started with a viewing of Pheobe's Body..
(Sorry for the graphic-ness Pablo wanted it open casket)

While the guests filed in, we had refreshments

Phoebe wasn't actually from sweden, but she seemed to have a redish tint in her golden scales, so we thought it was appropriate.

tears were shed..

And the tears continued..
even among the suspected murderers..

(Tiare and Tyler were one of the last to be with phoebe.. the truth is still under investigation)

Rachel and Pablo put their "Brave faces" on

Then the services began with a procession line to the burial plot outside our apartment.

(front to back: Tyler Wahlquist, Rachel Allen, Tiare Curtis, Michelle Drennan, Kyle Dawson, Garret Wahlquist, Brittany Bird)

Tyler carried the Casket...

Through tears and laughs, stories were exchanged of Phoebe's short but meaningful time on this earth.

I think this picture show's how everybody deals with pain in different ways-
Rachel: Clinging to loved ones
Garrett: Eating his feelings (in EVERY picture)
Michelle: crying/sad
Tiare: laughing

Tiare spoke a few words
(Observe: Garrett eating)

Showing their respect

Pablo saying his goodbyes..

My attempt at Photography.. haha

Phoebe's grave resides at the Riviera in between Apartments 1 and 2 by the bushes.
Anyone and Everyone is welcome to say their goodbyes

Phoebe of Apartment #2,
You will be missed...

On the bright side, here are some hilarious Fish Jokes I found via Google :)

RoOmIeS & QuOTeS

In January, I gave up my job offer and dreams of working at Disneyworld, and decided to transfer to Brigham Young University. As sad as I was about not going to "The Happiest Place on Earth", BYU just felt right and so I followed my instincts and moved to the "Happy Valley".
I found an apartment in the Riviera. #5 was the random one I chose, and it ended up being the best apartment in The Riv. My room mates were Jane, Becca, and Joelle.
My room mate was Jane Marie Smith
She is now engaged and she has the cutest blog. She is seriously the most thoughtful girl I've ever met. She gave the best hugs when I was sad, and she writes the sweetest "thank you" and "good luck" notes.
Jane is moved out now, but I still live with my other roomies: Becca Allen and Joelle Graham.

Becca is from Provo. I'm pretty sure she never has bad or negative thoughts. Joelle is from ogden. We have a special bond involving trips to Bed Bath and Beyond and watching TLC shows.

My new roomie is Rachel Allen, Becca's younger sister.
She is so fun and I'm excited to get to know her better!

The old roomies and I, had a quote board. The quotes were all taken out of context, and the rule is that you can't write your own quote on the board. It was a great conversation piece but in our new apartment we decided to throw the quote board away. But because I think we are hilarious, I decided I needed to document our hilariousness:

Jane:
“Just to teach your sons, your kids, and your daughters.”
“Can I tell you guys how confused I am about my gender? . . . No really, can I talk to you about my gender?”
“I get my narcissism from my father.”

“Old people do it, so it’s okay.”

“Boys’ kisses are like pretzels—salty and crunchy!”
“I’ve always wondered what people without hands do when they get married.”
“They’ll grow up eventually, until they’re teenagers and really ugly” (sleeptalking)
“This is so good, it’s just like McDonalds!”
Katie
“We should all eat cheese cream and aspberries cookies.”
“Let’s go to birthday for Disneyland.”
“That took us exactly about twenty minutes.”
“SChollarship Essas” (title of her word document)
“I’m such a chocolate not-wanna-waster.”
“When did this giggle come in my life?”
“I need to go grocery shore stopping!”
“Child, read your boring stuff!”
“A lot much better.”
Becca:
“I was speechless. Well, I wasn’t talking to anyone.”
“I have a dad for a punk.”
“You can use boiled eggs as handwarmers in the winter!”
“Oh tumors.”
“I have a descendant named Aaron Johnson.”
“Joelle, you could totally pull that sweater off.”
“Thanks, we had a great time!” (people at Aspen Grove) “You too!” (me)
“Becca, you’re an idiot!” (Jane) “At least I’m not an id…” (me)
“Mom, BYU’s playing BYUH tonight.” (me) “Oh good, keep your shirt on.” (mom) – cuz I was wearing a BYUH shirt
Joelle
“Becca. I mean everyone. Including Meg (meg=old roomie before me). Use my milk.”
“Becca, will you remove my uterus?”
“Hey Joelle, I used to be like you. But then I got over it.” (Meg)
“I need a scholarship.” (me) “Well, it’s all your dad’s fault cuz he earns too much money and he didn’t marry a black man.” (Joelle)
“My pinky toe doesn’t get enough attention.”
“Why is it not being drinken?”
“I would ditch you for him.” (talking to Katie about Dustin)
“It’s like my third toe.”
“What it is?”
“Yeah, I can’t eat in the early morning…because I can’t wake up in the early morning.”
“I’m a really bad pet-taking-care-of-er.”
